Fleas and ticks often live on your pet and ultimately on you, however not by choice I’m sure. What’s the down side to all this? Let’s start with fleas. Fleas can cause medical problems such as flea allergy dermatitis, tapeworms and secondary skin irritations. Flea season comes when it warms up. The spring and summer months are when the fleas kick into high gear. The good news is the cooler weather slows or completely interrupts the flea’s life cycle. The University of California performed a study that showed vacuuming got rid of 96 percent of adult fleas. After you vacuum be sure to get rid of the vacuum bag or completely empty a bagless vacuum. Remember, vacuuming doesn’t kill the fleas it just moves them from one place to another.

Image via Wikipedia

Here are some factors that play a roll in the development of fleas. Using dehumidifiers with air conditioning and vacuuming dramatically reduce the flea population. Flea eggs need a relative humidity of 70 - 75 percent to hatch. The flea larvae need at least a 50 percent humidity to live and flourish at higher temperatures. If you want to kill the fleas put them in soapy water. The soap in the water will make the fleas sink to the bottom of the bowl and drown. Put at least two inches of water in the bowl. Here’s a little trick I learned; put a bowl of soapy water on the floor and at night shine a light on the bowl. You can put it somewhere out of the way. The heat from the light will attract the fleas and they will jump in the soapy water, then it’s over for the flea! It works, I tried it. You won’t get rid of all your fleas in a day doing this, it will take some time. It’s a low cost non chemical method that doesn’t hurt your pets.

Image via Wikipedia

The other Villain we have lurking in the shadows is the tick. A tick can cause as many problems as the flea. The tick can cause medical problems for you, as well as your
pet. You can often find ticks in tall grass and bushes. The Tick is a blood feeding parasite. The tick will wait in the tall grass or bush and wait for it’s victim to pass by and then it will attach itself. The only method of transport for the tick is physical contact with the cat, dog or even you as the victim. Ticks can’t jump or fly, but they can drop out of their perch and onto the host and they can climb. There are some species that will actively stalk a Cat or Dog by foot. That’s kind of a scary thought. Temperature changes and the length of day are things that signal the tick to find a host. Ticks can detect heat emitted or carbon dioxide from a nearby Cat or Dog.

Now what to do if you or your pet get a tick and he makes you his home.
You need to evict the critter. To remove the tick; get a pair of tweezers and grab the tick at the head as close to the skin line as possible (they make special tweezers for this). Pull slowly and gently, do not use a twisting motion. A twisting motion could cause the head to break off the tick body and stay in your pet. As you pull slowly, the tick mouth parts should release . You should see a small crater in your pets skin. If you see what looks like black lines then you have left the head of the tick behind. If that occurs you may have to take your pet to the vet, as it may lead to an infection. I hope this short little article has given you some of the basic information on what to do about ticks and fleas if they are causing you or your pet a problem. Stay tuned to this site as new information is posted. Keep on the lookout for Fleas and ticks.

Tick Control
Habitat change is very important in tick control. Since ticks cannot hop or fly to get to their host, they must climb onto an object (such as tall vegetation, fences, etc.) and wait for a potential host to travel close by. Detecting shadows, vibrations, exhaled carbon dioxide or other host odors,

Ticks are usually found from ground level (not high up in trees) to three feet above the ground.
The tick then drops from their tall perch to attach themselves to their host.
Tall vegetation not only gives ticks easier access to their next passing host but also prevents insecticide applications from giving you the thorough coverage that you need. Pesticides that just “sit” on tall grasses, weeds and other vegetation are easily destroyed by sunlight. Many pests can detect the presence of an insecticide spray (or dust) and will quickly hide on the bottom side of plant leaves or in mulch around treated plants.
Ticks are arachnids in the family with spider, chiggers, mite and scorpions. They don’t react the same as insects.

Treating both sides of plant leaves will increase your control by as much as 60 percent.
Properties and fence rows that are overgrown with weeds and tall grass offer excellent harborage for tick carrying rodents and reptiles; vegetation that grows too tall will naturally go to seed, attracting birds, rats, mice and other creatures that feed on seed. In summary, tall vegetation will severely inhibit your tick control!

It is always best to mow grass before treatment. When do it yourself treatment can be done spray up the walls, fence, trees and other structures. Treat into the cracks and crevices, be as through as possible.

Check with your local pest control supplier, department, or hardware stores for best results on tick control.

You might find it more economical to use a local pest control company. These exterminating companies deal with this every day. Be sure and ask about guarantees you don’t want an exterminator who doesn’t guarantee their work.

Good luck

1. How to remove ticks from yourself?

2. How to remove ticks from your dogs?

3.How to remove ticks from your cats?

These are simple questions. It is very surprising at how many people do not know how to remove ticks. If not done properly there can be some painful infections that will set in. so maybe I can help a bit all you need to do is take a few moments

1. Check your dog, cats and pets for ticks and fleas every day, especially during tick season: spring, summer and fall, or year-round in warmer climates.
2. Brush your fingers through their fur, applying enough pressure to feel any small bumps. If you do feel a bump, pull the fur apart to identify it.
3. take some tweezers (the kind with a sharp point if possible) and grab the tick between the body and head and twist and pull gently.
4. you are finished.
An embedded tick will vary in size, from a pinhead to a grape. Ticks are usually black or dark brown. Depending on the size and location of the tick,
its legs may also be visible. Ticks need to be embedded for 24–48 hours to spread infections.

Tick removal

Removing embedded ticks is a delicate operation, because a piece might break off and remain in your dog’s skin if removal is done improperly. Follow the in the video or consider bringing your dog to a veterinary clinic where a veterinarian or technician can perform the task safely and show you how it’s done. Make sure the tick is removed promptly, as infection can occur after 24 hours.

If you take your time and do the procedures right then you should not have a problem in knowing how to remove ticks.
Good luck

The word flea or fleas strikes fear into you whether you own pests or not. For such a tiny critter it can cause havoc on you or your pets. The key to knowing what you have and how to get rid of the problem is in the information about Identification, application and follow up. Below is a little information about the flea.
as we go along we can discover ways to identify and also treat.

Flea - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Flea is the common name for any of the small wingless insects of the order Siphonaptera (some authorities use the name Aphaniptera because it is older, but names above family rank need not follow the ICZN rules of priority, so most taxonomists use the more familiar name). Fleas are external parasites, living by hematophagy off the blood of mammals and birds. Genetic and morphological evidence indicates that they are descendants of the Scorpionfly family Boreidae, which are also flightless; accordingly it is possible that they will eventually be reclassified as a suborder within the Mecoptera. In the past, however, it was most commonly supposed that fleas had evolved from the flies (Diptera), based on similarities of the larvae.

Adsense in March of 2009. The new changes effect how Google collects information on your surfing habits using third party advertising vendors who leave cookies on your browsers - notably the Doubleclick DART Cookie.

The basic changes to Adsense revolve around the addition of Interest Based Advertising as opposed to the previous Placement Targeted Advertising. You can visit Google for a description of what Interest Based Advertising entails here.

Your updated Privacy Policy should inform your users about the use of third party cookies on your sites and provide them with information regarding their opt out options should they wish to not have cookies placed on their browsers. See Opt Out of Behavioral Advertising

As an Adsense publisher you also have the option not to use Internet Based Advertising and may Opt out by following the instructions posted in Google Adsense Help. I do not recommend that you opt out but the choice is yours. These changes should help increase your CTR and CPC in the long run as you will become less susceptable to being smart priced. (ie. Conversions should increase as users are presented more advertisements based on their interests)

There are so many questions about fleas infestations.
There are different ways to kill fleas and ticks but the one
thing to remember is don’t just do nothing.
The sooner you get started the faster you will get rid of the problem.
If you’re limited as to how to do and how much money spend
and can you afford it, you cannot afford not to. Below is a commonly asked question

Fleas have infested my home… I need help!!!? - Yahoo! Answers
Fleas are a common problem,
they can enter the house on pets or humans.
Here are some things to remember.
1. Wash and treat pets the same time you treat home.
2. Vacuum before you set any bombs off.
make sure you take the bag out
of vacuum cleaner and place in plastic bag, dispose to garbage.
3. Check with local hardware or the nearest do it yourself store for the
proper types of bombs or total release foggers. Always
follow the label.
4. One of the most important things is follow up,
if you don’t do the follow up you will probably not be successful.
Above is a few of the procedures to follow.
I am a certified in general house hold pest control.
