how do exterminators get rid of rodents in a home?
on August 7th, 2008 at 12:00 amPosted In: exterminators
have discovered rodent droppings in my house (ugh!) Do the ultrasonic repellants work? How do exterminators actually catch the animals inside the house?
Some times they use dangerous fumes of poison to kill these rodents.
Most of the time baiting is the best way to go, you can use baits, traps or glue boards to get rid of rats or mice. You just have to remember that it could take more then one baiting to do the job correctly. I think that fumigation of some sort would be the last resort. I have been in this business for a long time and never had to resort to fumigation for the exterminating of rodents or mice.
The ultrasound repellants do not seem to be too effective. Exterminators tend to use poisons.

Look around for any food sources that attract pests. Get rid of them or close them in air tight containers.
You can buy traps and bait them with peanut butter. Rats love pizza, BTW. They also have a taste for potato chips. I've done research on rats since 1978.
The problem with poison is that they can crawl into some inexcessable place and die and then smell really awful.

First you want to go arond filling any small nooks, crannies or cracks in foundation, siding, where plumbing comes inetc. with steel wool. Then maybe some sticky glue traps work well.
